Changes to MBNA Alaska Airlines WEMC

As of August 31, 2023, the relationship between The Toronto-Dominion Bank operating a division as MBNA ("MBNA") and Alaska Airlines is ending. 

Changes starting on September 1, 2023:

• The name of your Alaska Airlines® World Elite® Mastercard® credit card will become the MBNA Rewards World Elite® Mastercard® credit card. 
• You will start earning MBNA Rewards Points.
• You will be able to redeem MBNA Rewards Points for travel, cash back, brand-name merchandise and gift cards from participating retailers.
• Within the next year, you’ll also be able to redeem MBNA Rewards Points for Alaska Airlines Miles on a one-to-one basis (1 MBNA Rewards Point = 1 Alaska Airlines Mile), with the ability to earn up to 5 MBNA Rewards Points per dollar spent on eligible purchases. That could add up to a lot of Alaska Airlines Miles with this new redemption option!
• As previously communicated, effective July 31, 2023 your Annual Fee will be $120 for the primary cardholder, and $50 for one Authorized User (if you have one).

MBNA Alaska MasterCard is back

MBNA Alaska MasterCard is back now. You can apply it from MBNA website or through GCR. If you apply it through GCR, you can get an extra $60 bonus.

Now, you need to spend $1000 or more within the first 90 days of your account opening to get the 25000 miles welcome bonus. And the annual income requirement for the WEMC version increases to $80000 personal or $150000 household. If you cannot meet this requirement, you may get the normal platinum plus version of this card. It seems no restriction on QC residents on the application.
