Welcome Bonus coming to an end soon (by Oct 31, 2015)

Below is a list of welcome bonus coming to an end by end of this month. You better take advantage of it while you still can:

BA will change the shorter reward flights in North America

News Link: http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/spending-avios/north-america-reward-flights

British Airways is going to be making a change to the Executive Club pricing structure for shorter reward flights originating or terminating within the United States of America (Basically all Zone 1 flights in North America). From 2 February 2016, reward flights will start from 7,500 Avios, instead of 4,500 Avios, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges (TFCs) from $5.60 USD.

Only those reward flights that currently cost 4,500 Avios for a one way flight in Economy, 9,000 Avios for Business Class and 18,000 Avios for First Class plus TFCs will increase; to 7,500 Avios, 15,000 Avios and 30,000 Avios plus TFCs respectively. All other Avios reward flight pricing will remain the same as it is today. The change will only affect shorter routes on American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. The majority of North American reward flight prices will remain unchanged.

This is really a bad news for us. The 4,500 Avios rewards flights are my favorites. We still have three months to book those flights before the deadline.

Scotiabank to Acquire JPMorgan Chase Credit Card Portfolio in Canada

Deal Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/scotiabank-to-buy-jpmorgans-canadian-credit-card-portfolio/article26821243/

From the news: Scotiabank  and JPMorgan Chase announced today that the two companies have reached an agreement under which Scotiabank will acquire a MasterCard and private label credit card portfolio and the related credit card operations from JPMorgan Chase.

The credit card portfolio includes approximately $1.7 Billion in receivables and 2 million well-performing active customer accounts. The agreement also includes the acquisition of JPMorgan Chase's credit card operations in Canada. These operations include a highly-skilled bilingual call centre in Ottawa with fraud, collections, recovery and customer service expertise.

The JPMorgan Chase credit card portfolio being acquired is a MasterCard and private label credit card portfolio, currently associated with Sears Canada Inc. As previously communicated by JPMorgan Chase, the agreement with Sears Canada comes to an end on November 15, 2015. Scotiabank is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for all customer.

Upon closing of the transaction, Scotiabank will become the first bank in Canada to offer customers Visa, AMEX and now, MasterCard credit cards.

Just want to know, what will happen to Chase Canada? As after this, Chase Canada will only have 2 credit cards (Amazon Visa and Marriott Visa). Will Chase Canada sell them to some other Canadian banks too?

News about Capital One Aspire Travel WEMC

I got an email from Capital One today, saying they’ve made some exciting changes to the travel rewards program of Capital One Aspire Travel WEMC:
No more redemption tiers! 100 reward miles = $1 in travel so you’ll always receive full value for your reward miles for travel.
No more minimum redemption requirements! You can literally redeem for cents.
Introducing partial redemptions! Redeem on a portion of a transaction – for example, redeem half of an overseas flight.

This is really a good news as the redemption is easy, and we can get full 2% return from this card. BTW, this card will soon offer a 40,000 bonus reward miles welcome bonus when you spend $1,000 on net purchases in the first 3 months. Also the annual fee will rise to $150. So, it is kind like you get $250 bonus with FYF.

2. Points Sharing
Beginning Oct. 12, 2015 Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards members will have the ability to share points with friends and family. Members can transfer up to 50,000 points from their account each year! 【This is nice.】

3. Redemption Stay Credit
Starting Nov. 1, 2015 Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards members will earn  Elite night credit on redemption nights paid for with points. 【Good news for people want to reach lifetime Elite status】

4. NEW Cash + Points
Coming in early 2016, the NEW Cash + Points will give Rewards members the flexibility to use a mix of cash and points to cover single or multi-night redemption stays. 【Hope this NEW one is better than the old one】

These are really good changes and will bring values to Marriott Rewards members. More information regarding the Fab Four will be provided on Monday, October 12 (gift for the Thanksgiving Day!).

GCR: Cash back rebates for credit cards (updated Oct 2015)

Deal Link: http://www.greatcanadianrebates.ca/display/Finance/

GreatCanadianRebates.ca probably is the best cash back website in Canada. I've earned a few hundred dollar in cash back from GCR alone, and I always check GCR first for all my Canadian online purchases.

GCR always has awesome promotions on many credit cards.  When you sign up for those credit cards through GCR, you’ll get cash back rebates plus the original welcome bonus. For example, if you apply TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite through GCR, you will get the $60 GCR bonus + the 25000 Aeroplan miles from TD.

Currently, there are some really good credit cards listed on GCR with high bonus, as follows:
  • TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite: $50【It is better than the CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite,as no GCR bonus for CIBC credit cards】
  • MBNA Smart Cash MC: $60【In first 6 months, 5% cash back on gas station/grocery shops】
  • MBNA Alaska Airlines WEMC: $60【From my point of view, Alaska Miles is better than Aeroplan Miles】
  • MBNA Rewards World Elite MC: $60【FYF, $100 points from MBNA, 2% return for everything, plus $60 from GCR. You should not miss this one】
  • AmEx Business Gold Rewards Card: $65
  • AmEx Gold Rewards Card: $50
  • AmEx Air Miles Platinum: $30【AmEx 2000 Air Miles is the highest offer for all Air Miles credit cards】
  • AmEx SPG Credit Card: $30
  • Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite: $55
  • Scotiabank GM Visa: $40【If you want to buy GM cars in the near future, you should apply this one】

If you want to sign up for GCR, please use my referral link as follows: https://www.greatcanadianrebates.ca/Register/126795/ , and input my emailcanadianrewards@gmail.com . GCR will give you extra $2.5 bonus (I will also get some bonus. Thanks).
