Plastiq Referral Program

Plastiq is a third-party service provider that offers additional payment methods, including credit cards. You can link your credit card to your Plastiq account and get credit card rewards through Plastiq payment. Normally, Plastiq charges a fee of 2.5-2.85% for this service.

Plastiq has a referral program. Here's how it works:

• Share your referral link (above) with friends via email, social networks, and anywhere else you can think of.
• Get rewarded in return for every person who registers with Plastiq via your referral code and they make payments totaling $500 or more (doesn’t have to be a one-time payment).
•  For each awesome referral, you will be able to send $100 through Plastiq without any fees (Plastiq called this FFDs: Fee-Free Dollars). That means if your next payment is $100 or less, there will be no service fee, and any leftover credit will rollover to your next payment. If the payment is more than $100, a service fee will only be charged on the dollar amount over $100. Let's assume an average Plastiq service fee of 2.5%, then it means you can save $2.5 by one successful referral.
• You friend will get 100 FFDs (value of ~$2.5).

These FFDs don’t last forever, though – your balance will be reset to zero 90 days after the last time you used or earned them.

Now, Plastiq is offering a promotion. When you schedule at least 6 rent or mortgage payments with your MasterCard by Sep 30, you will get a locked 1.75% fee rate on those payments. All you need to do is to follow these four steps, then you can pay your rent or mortgage just the way you want – with your card:

1. Schedule 6 or more payments, as far into the future as you’d like.
2. Make sure those payments are for rent or mortgage.
3. Use your MasterCard.
4. Do it before September 30, 2016, 11:59 p.m. PT.

If you're earning 2% or more on your MasterCard, you can get rewards for payments you're making anyway with this promotion. It can also help you meeting minimum spending limit for a welcome bonus for certain cards.

Plastiq: 1.5% MasterCard Rate

From now to Nov 30, 2015, Plastiq is offering a 1.5% rate for all one-time MasterCard payments. You can pay any bill or invoice to receive this rate – rent, utilities, and even babysitters. This is a good offer if you have a MasterCard that provide cashback rate over 1.5%. Plastiq: Reduced Fee for CRA Tax Payments

As you know, the CRA does not offer the option of paying taxes using a credit card. However, you may be able to use a third-party service provider that offers additional payment methods, including credit cards. The only provider that can do it at this time is Plastiq (T2 corporation, T1 individual, GST/HST, source deductions and excise tax).

Normally, Plastiq charges a fee of $1.99-$2.49 for this service. Currently, there is an offer from Plastiq: reduced fees until May 31 on tax payment (1% for MasterCard and 0% for Visa Debit). I tried it myself and the Plastiq service fee is really 1% for MasterCard. This is good for those who have credit cards with rewards greater than 1%.

Please remember that even if you pay today, the CRA may not receive your payment today. The transfer will typically take place within two to three days. However, you may encounter additional delays. The CRA may charge you penalties or interest or both if your payment is late.
