As you may know that Marriott has received approval from Chinese regulators for their takeover of Starwood Hotels. The deal is now expected to close on Sep 23 and Marriott will be the official owner of Starwood!
There is also some online news that I want to share with you regarding Marriott and SPG Status Match after Sep 23. Elite Status Match between SPG and Marriott:
- SPG Prefered + <-> Marriott Silver Elite
- SPG Gold <-> Marriott Gold Elite
- SPG Platinum <-> Marriott Platinum Elite
I believe this is a good news to SPG Gold members, like myself. :) Also, you will be able to transfer between SPG and Marriott points, with ratio of 1 SPG = 3 Marriott.
So, if you have lots of SPG points or AmEx MR points (2 AmEx MR = 1 SPG), then you can transfer them to Marriott points and redeem for the Marriott Travel Package (the best redeption value for Marriott points): http://www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/morepack.mi
Lift is so good, and I cannot wait to plan my next vacation. BUT, as for now, these are just online news. Let's wait and see (finger crossed)...
