American Express Canada will add ALL Accor as its newest Membership Rewards (MR) transfer partner soon. Transfer Details:
- Transfer Ratio: 1,000 MR points = 500 ALL Reward points (a 2:1 ratio).
- Transfer Limits: A minimum of 1,000 points is required per transfer, increasing in increments of 100 points.
- Processing Time: Transfers are usually instant but can take up to 48 hours.
The ALL Accor points have a fixed redemption value when booking Accor properties: 2,000 ALL points will always shave €40 off your hotel bill (which converts to roughly $64 CAD at current exchange rates).
Breaking down the math: transferring 4,000 MR points gets you 2,000 ALL points ($64 CAD in hotel value), giving you a redemption rate of 1.6 cents per MR point. While a 1.6-cent valuation is decent, you can routinely get over 2 cents per point by transferring your AmEx MR points to frequent flyer programs like Air Canada Aeroplan or British Airways Avios. Because of this, it is generally best to hold off on transferring to Accor unless you just need a few thousand points to top off an upcoming stay, or if AmEx rolls out a limited-time transfer bonus.
