WestJet and Petro-Canada Are Partnering Up

If you've been following Canada's loyalty program landscape, you'll know that WestJet, Canadian Tire, and Petro-Canada have a habit of making new friends. Canadian Tire and WestJet already have a partnership. Canadian Tire and Petro-Canada are linked through Triangle Rewards. And now, the final piece of the triangle is snapping into place: WestJet and Petro-Canada (Petro-Points) have officially announced a brand-new points integration partnership, expected to launch to members in early 2027.

The headline benefit is refreshingly simple: when you fill up at Petro-Canada, run your car through the wash, or grab snacks at the convenience store, you get to choose whether you earn WestJet dollars or Petro-Points. No more being locked into one program — the choice is yours every single time.

According to the official announcements from both companies, linked accounts will unlock the following perks:

  • Earn your way: Choose between WestJet dollars or Petro-Points on every Petro-Canada purchase — fuel, car wash, and convenience store all count
  • 20% bonus Petro-Points: Earn an extra 20% in Petro-Points on Petro-Canada purchases, a meaningful accelerator for frequent Petro-Canada customers
  • Points conversion: Transfer Petro-Points into WestJet dollars — this direction opens first, with the reverse potentially coming later
  • Redeem WestJet dollars at Petro-Canada: Use your WestJet dollars directly at the pump, car wash, or in-store
  • Exclusive sweepstakes: Members will get chances to win WestJet vacation packages and flights

Platinum member perks remain intact: Petro-Canada Platinum members who fuel 1,000+ litres per quarter continue to enjoy their 50% bonus Petro-Points on top of everything else

This partnership isn't happening in isolation — it's the latest move in WestJet's clear and deliberate strategy to embed its rewards program into every corner of your daily life. WestJet already has integrations with TELUS, Skip the Dishes, and Triangle Rewards. Adding Petro-Canada to that roster means WestJet members can now rack up points on their phone bill, takeout orders, everyday shopping, and now fuel.

The vision is obvious: transform WestJet Rewards from a "flight miles program" into a full daily-life points ecosystem — much like what Aeroplan has built. The key difference is that WestJet is leaning into a partnership and integration model rather than absorbing everything under one roof. That approach gives members more flexibility, letting you optimize across programs rather than being funnelled into a single loyalty universe.

With over 1,500 Petro-Canada stations across Canada, this is genuinely one of the most accessible everyday earn opportunities WestJet has added yet. For loyal WestJet flyers who already stop at Petro-Canada regularly, this is essentially free points with no behaviour change required.

The partnership doesn't launch until early 2027, but there are a few things you can do today to make sure you're ready to hit the ground running:

  • Make sure you have both accounts — sign up for WestJet Rewards and Petro-Canada Petro-Points now if you haven't already, so you're ready to link them the moment the feature goes live
  • Consider a WestJet co-branded credit card — if you don't already have one suited to everyday spending, getting one before 2027 will let you maximize your earn rate once the Petro-Canada integration is active
  • Stay tuned — conversion rates, bonus structures, and activation details will be revealed closer to launch; we'll break it all down for you as soon as the full details drop
