Tangerine has an update on their 5-month intro offer for the Tangerine Savings Account. For a limited time, you can earn up to $250 in cash back and a 5.75% Savings rate when you open your first Savings and Chequing Accounts before Oct 31, 2024. No payroll direct deposit requirement. The Tangerine core rate for the Tangerine Savings Accounts (Standard, RSP and TFSA) is 0.1% now.
How the online offer works:

- Open your Chequing Account
- Switch your payroll deposits to earn $250: Move your paycheques to your Tangerine Chequing Account for 2 consecutive months, and Tangerine will give you $250.
- Open an Eligible Savings Account as the Primary Account Holder within 60 days of the date their Client Number was created. The 5.75% Promotional Rate will apply to deposits made to an eligible Client’s Eligible Savings Account(s) for 153 days (5 months) beginning on the date all Qualifying Conditions have been met, to a maximum of $1,000,000 (in the currency of the Eligible Savings Account) per Eligible Savings Account Type .
If you cannot meet the requirements for the $400 bonus (for example, you cannot add your payroll direct deposits in Tangerine), you can open a new Tangerine account with Tangerine Orange Key. Then you can earn a $50 Bonus with an initial deposit of at least $250 within 60 days of becoming a Client and meet other conditions (Note: this $50 bonus cannot be combined with the $200 bonus above). PS: For opening Tangerine bank accounts, you can either show your ID at a Canada Post Outlet or at a Tangerine Café, or you can send Tangerine a cheque from your other bank to verify your identity.
